Off the menu:
We had the Grande Bouche which was two pieces of sweet brioche bread griddled in an egg and vanilla batter, served with crispy bacon and maple syrup. Now let me tell you, Moose portions are HUGE, like seriously if you're a big eater this place is for you. Even if you're not a big eater, this place is for you, I mean, they have takeaway boxes for a reason. But, what I like about the Grande Bouche is that yes it's big but it's not overfacingly big (if that's a word), It's not quite as heavy as the pancakes they serve and you can make a fair attempt at finishing your plate. We also had the Moose Club. This is three layers of carby-goodness with crispy bacon and succulent chicken, salad and a good dollop of good quality mayo. It's fair to say this will put you in a carb-coma, and it is totally worth it! Drinks-wise, definitely opt for one of their milkshakes, we suggest the Cookie Dough one. Portion size, it is a little small, but then a giant vat of the stuff would still be too small, we are obsessed. Lots of Love, LFG x Have you been to Moose? Let us know your thoughts! Where do we start with this place? Let’s start with walking through Cowshed’s doors and being greeted by their fabulous staff, including the boss, who fully gets involved in the whole Cowshed experience; you might not even know he’s the owner! This place feels like home, and that’s exactly what they’ve created with their multiple ‘dining rooms’ up and down this traditional Georgian town house. You can immediately rest assured you’re in good hands and can have a good old chat with the staff that could well just be one of your mates. Never mind the décor, the staff and the food (which we will get onto don’t you worry), their background music plays like one of my spotify playlists, an eclectic taste from all eras and that suited me perfectly. We managed to have a natter with Andy the owner, and its easy to see his passion for Cowshed and all things-food. From sourcing their bread from East Avenue Bakehouse just a few roads down, individually picking their pieces of meat and mixing this up regularly for specials, to searching far and wide for their ‘Biltong’ cured beef and the cheeses for their cheeseboard. This place does not do things by halves. Off the menu:
It’s fair to say we ordered a lot… and wish we’d worn some looser clothes! We had the Macaroni & cheese croquettes from their grazing bites selection which came with a tomato and jalapeño dip, we were fighting over these; crispy on the outside and gooey-cheesey in the middle. Steaks-wise it was a tricky one to pick because they all had us salivating. With helpful suggestions and some background information on the steaks, we picked the Flat iron and the Ribeye. Do not be fooled by the price! I don’t think we’ve been to a steak restaurant that is such good value for money but doesn’t compromise on the quality and taste! I mean just look at those pictures, even then it doesn’t do them justice! With an almost charcoal outer crust and succulent pink meat, it’s a winning combination. And if you’re not a seasoned steak-pro they even have suggestions on the menu on how best cooked the steak should be. We decided on a couple of sauces and a couple of sides between the pair of us. The pepper sauce was out of this world and the béarnaise sauce was something we’ve never actually tried before, but it’s buttery goodness did not disappoint. For sides, we got the fries and the sweet potato mash. The mash was like nothing I’ve ever tasted before, and when asked were told it had a secret ingredient…we’ll leave you guys to see if you can guess for yourself, but either way it’s like heaven on earth. On to dessert, yes, we were ridiculously full but there’s always room for something sweet! We had The red velvet cheesecake served with berry compote and chocolate tuile. Now this is a cheesecake! Rich and yet light, soft but with a crunch, this ticks a lot of boxes. All things sweet are made by their chefs too...is everything they make this insane?! Cowshed you’re onto a winner! It seems to us Liverpool is going through a massive rejuvenation for foodie lovers, and everything is all about the independents and helping newbie businesses and restaurants thrive. This restaurant will become a firm favourite with Liverpudlians and tourists alike, particularly being apart of the ‘Independent Liverpool’ community of restaurants, you can get discounts at Cowshed when you show your card in addition to the promotions on their social media pages. Click for their Instagram and their twitter, give them a follow to see the meaty-goodness. Lots of Love, LFG. Have you been? Let us know your thoughts!
Off the menu: We had the Sake Temaki (bottom left photo), which was delicious and would be served as 2 pieces. We also had the Ebi (bottom right photo) which was cooked shrimp on the amazing sushi rice which I think I could eat alone... Lastly we tried the Uramaki Saki Dragon (top photo) which was Salmon, Avocado and cucumber and on their normal menu would come as 4 pieces.
As we said before, all their sushi was amazingly fresh and is luxury sushi on the go! What's not to love? On top of this they had such lovely staff when we went today, they were more than willing to advise us on sushi; and I can be very indecisive so this really helped! Cannot wait to try other bits and pieces on their menu, including the hot food that will be available. Lots of Love, LFG x Have you been? Let us know your thoughts! So we’ve toasted in the New Year with kisses and far too much prosecco, and so with emptier wallets and slightly rounder bellies we look for ways to beat the January Blues through the delights that Liverpool has to offer. Here we have a selection of some of Liverpool’s finest restaurants with some amazing deals to be had! After all, you can’t possibly start a diet when you still have a house full of goodies.

So you want free entry? With just a couple of days left before Christmas this may be your best bet! Red Door, Liverpool tweeted that no tickets are needed and no entry fee…that’s what we like to hear! You can have the option to book a table if you really wanted to by contacting Red Door themselves. This place has a few MAJOR bonus points, a short walk up bold street from the station so there’s no need for you all to be teetering long distances in heels that were only made for dancing and freezing en route. Another positive is that it’s right next to the end-of-the-night meeting point ‘The Bombed-Out Church’ where you can catch a taxi or order a pre-booked taxi for. Fabulous cocktail menu and atmosphere, with great music and entertainment from the bar staff! So you want dinner and classy drinks? Because no great story every started with a salad. Altogether a more civilised affair, but no less entertaining. Dinner with friends, ringing in the new year with a couple of drinks and then who knows where next! We like this idea, you get into town before the masses that arrive on the later trains, line your stomach and has one price that includes everything so you know where you stand! We’ve got three great restaurants we’ve picked for you that sound amazing and range in prices for your budget (one of them may be a pipe dream….but if you’re feeling flush?) Castle Street Town House Castle Street Town House has their New Year’s Eve Menu for £55 per head. Desserts are included and you’ll receive an Asiette of Desserts. Now according to their Instagram and Twitter tickets are running extremely low, so call ahead to book ASAP. The nearest station would be Moorfields and they are open late with drinks and music with free entry all night long. Sounds good to us! NYL Restaurant and Bar A little pricier, here you’ll book a table for 7pm onwards for the rest of the night. The price is £64 per head however you’ll receive a drink on arrival (choice of signature cocktail, prosecco or craft beer). You’ll also receive your 3 course meal, details of what to expect are in their New Year’s Eve brochure (link above ^). You can also expect live entertainment and DJ until late; you can ring in the new year with a glass of prosecco (included) and ‘Chef’s midnight treats’, we don’t really know what these entail but they sound yummy and we are dying to find out! We’ve never been here before, but reviews have been positive and we love a bit of glitz and with a theme of New York, who wouldn’t want to spend their NYE in the big apple? The Art School Restaurant So this is the dream for the foodies out there! If you haven’t heard of The Art School then let us introduce you! Price wise at £125 per head with the optional wine flight of an additional £55 this is our pipe dream…one day, one year we’ll make it. Lots of Love, LFG x We had a casual lunch at The Vincent this afternoon! Yes, we have put pictures of this on our Instagram in the past...but it is a safe bet for lunch whether you are in Liverpool or Southport. Also, I was craving a portion of their gringo sushi so it was a must for me! We went to the Southport chain (the original) and this has a hotel attached and a bar...both of which I have been and they do not disappoint, making a mean Pornstar Martini. You may have seen pictures of their unique napkins on instagram and wondered where is this place? Well, let us tell you more. Off the menu:
As we mentioned before the main reason for our visit was my need to have the Roasted Crispy Duck and Mango Gringo Sushi (gringo meaning cooked rather than raw fish like normal sushi), this is a small portion of 5 or so pieces and so I paired this with a 'small' plate of Chicken Liver Parfait, Brioche and Onion Marmalade, this was to die for and I probably could've ordered another plate of this and devoured it happily, I also had the fries with this... yes it's a weird combo but I know what I like and it's still Christmas; I'm treating myself! Our other dish was the Vincent Chicken and Bacon Club Sandwich with chunky chips. This was divine and was so big we took some home in a takeaway box. The staff were very accomodating and switched and changed around the meal as we asked and it was no trouble at all. As we've said, you know what you're getting at this restaurant, quality. It never disappoints and that's why we return every couple of months for either a quick lunch or classy drinks and a meal to catch up with the girls. Pick the Liverpool one and you can head out onto the town afterwards or pick the Southport one and go to the bar area afterwards for a few cocktails. A treat but so worth it! Lots of Love, LFG x Have you been to any of The Vincent restaurants or hotel? Let us know your thoughts x Link to website This Pan-Asian restaurant can be found on Hope Street Liverpool and is surprisingly large! We've never been before and didn't really know what to expect but food-wise we were pleasantly surprised!
Off the menu: We had quite a few dishes...unfortunately we were too hungry and dug into many of our dishes and then remembered we needed to take photos We had the Our Famous Crispy Squid (not pictured) which came with amazing chilli mayonnaise that I used as a dipping sauce with nearly everything! We had the Katsu Bao (pictured) which was buttermilk chicken, katsu mayonnaise served on a bao bun! Soooo good... wish I'd ordered two Ginger chicken stir-fry which had kaffir lime leaf and soy went down a treat! Star of the show was definitely the Deep Fried Ham Hock served with fresh chilli and master stock caramel... basically a divinely sweet sauce (I literally could've licked the plate)! We had sides of sweet potato fries, the 'Katsu Chicken Curry' and for dessert had 'Cinnamon Doughnut Fingers' which were great to share with friends! Unfortunately they didn't have the chocolate sauce and so we got extras of the condensed milk sauce and strawberry dipping sauce! Overall the food was fab! I would definitely suggest you pop in for lunch or casual dinner. However, and we will put this down to Christmas, the staff were a little lacking in enthusiasm and not as attentive as we have known elsewhere. We may give this another chance in future...if only for the ham hock goodness! Lots of Love, LFG x Have you been? Let us know your thoughts! x in for a casua |
